At home

After you have returned home, be sure to follow you doctor’s orders regarding diet, rest, medication and activity.

It is not unusual to feel a little sleepy, lightheaded or dizzy for several hours after your surgery.

The majority of patients may not feel up to their typical activities the next day, usually due to tiredness or surgical discomfort. Plan to take it easy for a few days until you feel back to normal.

For the first 24 hours following your procedure, do not engage in strenuous activities, drink alcoholic beverages, drive or make critical decisions.

A nurse from the Center will phone you the next business day after your surgery to see how you are and answer any additional questions you might have.

If you have any questions or problems after surgery, refer to your discharge instructions, contact your physician directly, or if you have an emergency, proceed to your nearest hospital.
