Day of Surgery

Please arrive one hour before your scheduled procedure unless instructed otherwise.

Please bathe or shower prior to your surgery. Remove all makeup and leave at least one nail free from polish. Do not use lotions or oils after bathing.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing such as sweat suits and easy to button shirts or blouses that are big enough to accommodate a large bandage after surgery. Wear comfortable shoes; no high heels, please.

Be prepared to sign a form giving your consent for the operation. If the patient is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must accompany the patient and sign the consent form.

Bring all insurance cards and a photo ID with you to the center.

Upon arrival, you will change into a gown and slippers which we provide. You will be asked to remove all jewelry, piercings, contact lenses, dentures and any prosthesis.

People using inhalers must bring them on the day of surgery.

Please bring any walkers, post-op crutches, hearing aids, etc.

Leave all valuables, including jewelry and cash, at home. We cannot be responsible for damaged or lost property.

A nurse will check your temperature, blood pressure and pulse. Female patients will be asked to provide a urine sample. You will have an IV line started. Any medications ordered will be given at this time.

An anesthesiologist will speak with you prior to your procedure, you will be asked about your general health, medical problems and medications you are taking.

When it is time for surgery, you will be taken to the operating suite by a surgical nurse and an anesthesia care provider. The amount of time in surgery depends on your particular procedure.

Your family- friend will be asked to wait in the waiting room.
